What is the Health Caucus?
The Alaska Joint Legislative Health Caucus was formed to study current statewide health related issues. Monthly forums that explore specific issues with participants from throughout Alaska provide a foundation for policymakers to understand the diverse health issues in Alaska.
Who are the members of the Health Caucus?
Membership in the Health Caucus includes any Representative or Senator that chooses to attend. Staff of the Legislature can also be ex-officio members. Forums and discussion/workgroups of the Caucus are open to and welcome public participation. The Health Caucus is co-chaired by Senator Donny Olson of Nome and Representative Sharon Cissna of Anchorage.
When and where does the Health Caucus meet?
The Health Caucus will generally meet during the 25th Legislative Session every month, from Noon to 1:00 PM. During the interim, the forums are normally hosted in the Anchorage LIO at 716 W. 4th Street, Suite 220. Light lunch is served and all are welcome to attend.
How can you listen to or get additional information about the Health Caucus?
The forums are auto teleconferenced to every Legislation Information Office in Alaska. To find your nearest LIO, please visit the State Legislature's website. The Health Caucus is often televised during the Legislative Session on the Gavel to Gavel system. There is a power point for each program topic that can be downloaded from our website.
