Health and Alaskan Energy Needs

(under construction)

Alaska's energy costs have increased dramatically, with huge impacts on communities and individual Alaskans. The Alaska Energy Authority reported that energy bills consume 40.2% of household incomes in rural Alaska on average, and the numbers are bad across the state. When a family can't afford to heat its home or must cut back on other necessities, health and safety suffer. This webpage will provide updates on what the Legislature is doing to address these problems, along with information about what you can do to manage your energy and transportation costs.

Special Session on Immediate Energy Needs

Governor Palin has called the legislature for a second special session on July 9th. The draft of the Governor's bill is available here. For background information on the Palin Administration's energy policy refer to: State of Alaska Energy Policy and Strategy Recommendations. Stay tuned for more updates.
